What Is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a natural form of healthcare that focuses on the relationship between the spine, nervous system, and overall body function. It is based on the principle that proper alignment of the spine allows the nervous system to work without interference, helping the body maintain balance and heal itself naturally.
Chiropractors use precise manual techniques, known as adjustments, to correct spinal misalignments and restore normal movement to the joints. These adjustments can help reduce pain, improve mobility, relieve pressure on nerves, and support better overall health.
In addition to spinal adjustments, chiropractic care often includes soft tissue therapy, stretching, exercise programs, posture correction, and lifestyle or nutritional guidance. This comprehensive approach helps address not only symptoms, but also the underlying causes of discomfort or dysfunction.
Chiropractic care can benefit people of all ages and activity levels — from children and adults to athletes and seniors — by promoting better movement, reducing pain, and enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal and perform at its best.

Auto Injuries
Experienced chiropractors are specially trained in treating car accident victims with a wide scope of injuries. Proper care from a chiropractor often fends off the need for long-term pain medication.
You’ll be asked specific questions about the accident, then you’ll be carefully examined and adjusted to realign your spine and take pressure off of nerves; beginning the healing process right away. Many patients experience immediate relief during their very first visit!
After your adjustments, you will be given a plan for continued care. Your plan should include stretches, exercises, and a follow-up appointment. Holistic, long-term care is one of the big advantages in chiropractic medicine.

Low back pain is one of the most common health problems affecting people of all ages. It can result from poor posture, muscle strain, joint dysfunction, injury, or long periods of sitting or repetitive movement. When the joints and muscles of the lower back are not moving or functioning properly, they can irritate nearby nerves and cause pain or stiffness.
Chiropractic care offers a natural and effective approach to managing and relieving low back pain. Chiropractors evaluate the spine to identify areas of restricted movement or misalignment that may be contributing to discomfort. Through gentle spinal adjustments, chiropractors restore proper motion to the joints, reduce nerve irritation, and improve overall spinal function.
In addition to adjustments, treatment may include soft tissue therapy, stretching, corrective exercises, ergonomic advice, and lifestyle or posture recommendations. This comprehensive approach not only helps relieve pain but also addresses the root causes, supporting long-term healing and prevention of future episodes.
Many people experience significant improvement in mobility, comfort, and quality of life after receiving chiropractic care for low back pain. By restoring balance and function to the spine, chiropractic helps the body heal naturally — without relying on medication or invasive procedures.

Neck discomfort is one of the most frequent issues people face today — studies show that roughly one in ten Americans experience it at any given time.
The neck is a sensitive area made up of small joints, muscles, and nerves that can easily become strained or irritated. Poor posture, sitting for long periods, stress, or incomplete recovery from past injuries are common reasons this area becomes painful or stiff.
Chiropractic care can be an effective, natural way to relieve these issues. Rather than masking pain with medication, chiropractic adjustments focus on restoring healthy movement and alignment in the spine — helping address the root cause of discomfort safely and without the use of drugs or surgery.

Most migraines start in the neck (known as the upper cervical spine). When a throbbing headache is met with a specific correction to the upper cervical area, nerve flow is improved and restricted motion is reduced. Due to improved nerve flow, muscle inflammation and blood flow are often improved as an important byproduct.
When muscles relax and blood flow returns to normal, many migraine patients experience immediate relief in the office.

According to research from the Insurance Research Council, almost one out of every three people injured in motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) receive care from a chiropractor. Considering that the National Safety Council estimates more than 12 million motor vehicle accidents occur each year involving over 20 million vehicles, that represents a significant number of patients choosing chiropractic treatment.
Many people turn to chiropractic care after an accident because it is particularly effective for soft tissue injuries, especially those affecting the spine. Since sprains and strains of spinal muscles and ligaments are among the most common injuries resulting from MVAs, chiropractic treatment is often a natural and appropriate choice.
In addition, several studies have shown that patients injured in motor vehicle accidents report high levels of satisfaction with chiropractic care. For example, in one study of 190 individuals with whiplash injuries, all participants who received chiropractic treatment expressed complete satisfaction with their results.

Chiropractic care has gained wide recognition for its effectiveness in managing sports-related injuries. Because most athletic injuries involve soft tissues—and often result from poor biomechanics or improper technique—many athletes, from casual participants to elite professionals, turn to chiropractors for treatment and performance support.
An article published in The Physician and Sports Medicine (June 1998) noted that interest in complementary and alternative medicine, particularly chiropractic, continues to grow. More active individuals are seeking care from practitioners who provide natural and noninvasive approaches to relieve pain and improve physical function.
Chiropractic care takes a comprehensive approach to recovery. Using gentle spinal adjustments, physiotherapy modalities, soft tissue therapy, stretching, individualized exercise programs, nutritional guidance, and biomechanical training, chiropractors address both the symptoms and their root causes rather than focusing solely on pain reduction.
Effective rehabilitation requires more than just temporary relief—it involves correcting the underlying problems that contribute to injury, such as muscle imbalances, biomechanical faults, poor technique, and inadequate conditioning. By targeting these factors, chiropractic care helps athletes restore function, prevent future injuries, and enhance overall performance.

Sciatica causes pain that begins in the lower back and radiates down one or both legs. The sciatic nerve — the longest nerve in the body — can become irritated or compressed, often due to a bulging or herniated disc in the lower spine.
This nerve irritation can lead to sharp, burning, or shooting pain that may come and go without warning. Chiropractic care focuses on relieving this pressure, improving spinal alignment, and helping the body heal naturally.
Meet Dr. Goodman
Doctor of Chiropractic
I was born in Brooklyn, New York, but relocated to Clearwater, Florida in 1977. I grew up in the bay area and attended the University of Florida; yes I bleed orange and blue, sorry Seminole fans. After my undergraduate studies in nutrition, I attended Life University for chiropractic and graduated in 1997 with honors.
